Leadership & Team Bulding

LEADERSHIP & TEAM BUILDING

Highlands Keep offers three Team Building & Leadership Evaluation training evolutions – Small Unit Leadership Evaluation I (SULE I), SULE II and the Disaster Response Scenario. All of our Leadership and Team Building evolutions are structured from the following perspective – When an individual is given a problem or a mission to accomplish, the primary indicator of leadership was not what he/she accomplishes or to what degree they accomplished it. Instead, the primary indicator of leadership is how he/she went about accomplishing the task. In other words “it’s not what you do or how far you get, it is how you do it and how you get there.”

Small Unit Leadership Evaluation I (SULE I) – SULE I is a one day event conducted over a course containing 16 different obstacles within the Rausch Creek Training Area that place individuals and teams in problem solving situations. Then, as the name implies, we observe how the individuals and teams react to the situations. SULE I evaluates an individual’s leadership ability while they are challenged both mentally and physically. The course consists of 10-15 different problems that place teams of four individuals in situations where they must work together to solve a problem in a relatively short period of time. Mission success or failure is not evaluated (nor is it a priority) at SULE I; an individual’s ability to motivate, lead, and inspire others is. Evaluations are based on communication skills, leading subordinates, command presence, bearing, and decision-making abilities.
